Slaithwaite, Colne Valley
- Pram accessible
- Baby changing available
- Children’s menu
- Breastfeeding friendly
- Pram-friendly walk
This is one of my absolute favourite spots, both pre-baby and post-baby. Incredible food, friendly staff and its canal side location make it the perfect spot for weekend brunch and a gentle stroll afterwards. I almost want to keep this one a secret, but I won’t gatekeep!

Parking
There’s a few spots where you can park, I’d suggest trying Aldi first as you get 3 hours free parking (you don’t need to be a customer), and they have designated parent bays.
You can also park for free along the canal side, though this gets busy really quickly. Be careful you don’t park past the entrance to Salamander Fabrications or you risk getting a ticket.
There’s also free parking at Old Bank car park, though this is often full.
For parking longer than 3 hours, your best bet is New Street car park, which is free for the first two hours then you must pay for additional hours after that.
Facilities
You can sit inside, outside in the small patio area, or get your treats to take out and wander up the canal to find a spot for a picnic.
Pram access & high chairs
While you can definitely take prams inside, the bench-style seating can sometimes make it tricky to find a seat somewhere that allows you to bring the pram to your table. This is less of an issue with babies who are able to sit in a high chair, as there are plenty of Ikea Antilop high chairs (some with padded inserts, which we found great for babies just starting to sit in a high chair).

If you have younger babies who can’t yet sit independently it might be a tight squeeze to get the pram to your table (though not impossible, and staff will do their best to make it work for you). You might have better luck sitting outside, if the weather is suitable.
Baby Changing
There is a baby changing toilet, accessible to all genders. It’s a shared disabled bathroom and baby changing space, so you can nip to the loo at the same time without having to go to multiple rooms.

Books & Toys
There’s a small selection of books and toys to keep little ones entertained at the table.

Canal Walk
The Handmade Bakery sits on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, and having been resurfaced in 2025 it’s the perfect place for a post-brunch pram accessible walk. You can see the full details of the walk here.
